The New Moon phase will begin tonight at 10:56 PM CST. The moon will move into the zodiac sign of Libra. Like any new moon, this is a good time to review what you hope to accomplish by months end or plant seeds for the future ahead.

Libra brings an energy of balance and harmony.  Libra is also the relationship sign-relationship to others, self, and the rest of the world. She asks us to create equilibrium between all of these influences.

This new moon energy will have other planetary influences at play. Venus is in retrograde until November with its own intense energy. The Venus Retro energy can create conflict with the balanced Libra.

Venus wants passion, beauty and can touch on the side of indulgence. If drawn to overindulgence, Libra may push you be more reserved. The passion of Venus can also help propel direct action needed to create unity.

Who can you count on? Where do you need to step up? Where do you need to take better care of yourself? What is not adding value?

Venus is also the goddess of love. With energy surrounding relationships at play with this new moon energy, connections may deepend. Not just romantic, but passion in regards to life as a whole.

2018 has been a busy year for planetary activity.  Many planets have made transits in retrograde, including Mercury, Mars, and Uranus. When a planet goes retrograde it is essentially moving backwards. Retrogrades are known for shaking up our awareness, depending on other planetary placements, other retrogrades, and what zodiac sign the retrograde is in.  People often experience disruptions in their lives during these planetary movements. Retrogrades often cause us to visit the past and reevaluate. Venus will be a powerful energy during its transit backwards.

Venus went retrograde October 5, 2018 and will go direct on November 16, 2018.  Venus goes retrograde about every 18 months.  Venus in astrology is the ruler of love, sensuality, passion, aesthetics, creature comforts, money and beauty. Venus is the ruler of the zodiac signs Taurus and Libra, but affects all signs. The planet Venus is one of the brightest planets in the sky- tumultuous with volcanic activity and storms.

Venus in retro can make us think about our past great loves, the one that got away, how we spend our money, the way we look and the appearance of our surroundings. It is also a time of creativity and enjoyment of the arts. You may feel the need to change up your personal appearance, reach out to an old flame or start up a new love affair. Sex drive can be heightened. You may want to splurge on a big purchase for yourself or your home.

This retrograde can also cause moodiness and heightened emotions, especially as new and full moons come through this retrograde, and its time in Scorpio. You may feel drawn to overindulge in aesthetic type purchases, cling to people and overindulge in food and drink. You may feel drawn to escape your feelings through tangible things.  Also, keep in mind, often what starts in a retrograde, will not stay.  You may hate your new hair style or that expensive couch you felt compelled to purchase after this retrograde season is over. Your new love may not last or the rekindling of an old romance may burn out.

Venus  began its transit in the sign of Scorpio on October 5th and will eventually move back into Libra around Halloween.  It will trine Neptune and square Mars along its journey as well. These aspects will affect Venus’ energy.

Venus’ time in Scorpio will be when the energy will be the most intense and emotional. Scorpio is a fixed water sign who is intuitive, highly emotional and likes to lash out and sting when hurt. With it being a fixed sign, it can bring stability as well. When Venus goes into Libra this energy will be somewhat different.

Libra is the diplomat and will make us think about balance. Libra also is slow to make decisions. It is also a highly relational sign as well, so relationship to self and others will be heightened. What do you or those in your life bring to the table? What needs to be said between you and another person? What apologies need to be made? Where do you need balance?

The square to Mars will be the heaviest influence on the retrograde energy. Mars will add to increased sex drive brought on by Venus, can heighten conflict and create competitiveness.  It also brings an energy of impulsiveness and lack of self-control. The trine to Neptune creates a friendly and generous energy, which can help soften the energy of Mars. You may feel more charitable and giving.

The zodiac signs most effected by this retrograde will be Aries, Taurus, Libra and Scorpio. If you have any of these signs in your natal chart, you may be feeling this energy more than others.

Aries is opposite of Libra. Aries is a hardworking and determined sign.  This retrograde can leave Aries feeling soft and exposed struggling to harness that drive and determination. Personal shortcomings may come to light and leave Aries feeling stuck. It will be important to push through self doubt and persevere.

Taurus, like Aries, can be determined and stubborn, but sometimes lazy. Taurus is opposite Scorpio. The bull may have been ramming the same wall over and over unsuccessful at tearing it down. New ideas and approach may come to light to finally tear that wall down. Taurus may feel impatient with existing projects and act impulsively. Tauruses may also evaluate their health and self care during this time, especially evaluating where their money is going.

Libras may feel impulsive and quick to act, which is unusual for Libras who like to take their time in making decisions. Libras may go on a shopping spree or overindulge. This can be positive in that Libras may feel more assertive and make needed decisions for the direction of their journey. Also, this can help getting their needs met.

Scorpios may feel the need to resolve old conflicts. It is a time to forgive and hash out any old pain. Scorpios may feel the need to use their stinger and go into hiding. Scorpios may rekindle an old flame or romance, but it may not have any staying power.

Finally, this retrograde ends November 16, 2018.  Be mindful of the energies present and how they are affecting you.  This can be a wonderful time of growth, new experiences, and personal fulfillment.

Tonight at 9:52 PM CST in the United States and in the wee hours of September 25th in the UK and Europe, we will experience a Full Moon.  This Moon is in Aries this month. Moons are usually in the opposite zodiac sign of the sun.  The sun is currently in Libra.

Every night as you glance at the sky, you might notice the moon appears differently each night, with 8 specific phases. The first being the New Moon and last being the Balsamic Moon. New Moons symbolize planting new seeds, Full moons are for harvesting fruit from those seeds. The last being the Balsamic Moon, which about is preparing the seeds from the fruit that was just harvested.

All of these “moons” have specific meanings and can affect individuals spiritually and sometimes on a physical level. Human beings are mostly water. Moons move water, think about the ocean. It is normal for some people to feel emotional, dizzy, restless and sometimes anxious for days leading up to Full Moons and days following the Full Moon. Its not inherently negative, but listen to your body, your feelings, and what is happening in your awareness.  This is all part of the energy surrounding this Full Moon.

Native Americans called this moon the Harvest Moon, tied to the Autumn Equinox tradition that occurred on September 22, 2018.  During the Autumn Equinox, the sun crosses the “celestial equator” wherein sunlight and darkness are nearly equal to each other, depending where you live on the planet. This all happened due to the sun being over the earth’s equator.  The fall equinox marks the time where nights begin to get longer and the days become shorter.  It marks the beginning of harvest. The fall equinox brings in cooler temperatures and the first day of fall.  During this period people often experience reunions with loved ones and a culmination of “harvest” from “seeds” planted throughout the planting season of spring and summer.  It also known as the Full Corn Moon or Barley Moon due to crops the Native Americans often harvested during this time.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. Aries is the initiator; represented by the Emperor in tarot. The emperor is a go-getter and goes after the things he wants. Aries is all about direct action and taking direct steps. Aries is a fire sign.  You may feel a proverbial fire under your rear end to move forward.  This energy is intense. Aries can be controlling, aggressive and irritable too. There is an impatience that can come with this moon.

Aries is conjunct with Chiron this Full Moon.  Chiron is known as the healer.  Chiron heals by bringing up sore spots in our lives- bringing feelings of insecurity, fear, and vulnerability to our awareness. In dredging up the sore spots in our lives, we can see how to take action, harnessing the Aries energy, to heal these areas and how this pain is holding us back.

Another powerful aspect to this moon is Saturn. Saturn’s energy with this moon is full of hesitation and inhibition. Saturn is a soft energy, however, somewhat childlike. Saturn likes to slow things down which can conflict with the assertive energy of Aries. With the Aries energy, it gives us the freedom to take care of ourselves with softness and harness discipline through the Aries energy. It helps us to be slow and methodical about what we need to do to achieve our goals.  It is a marathon not a sprint.

There are other aspects to this moon, such as Mercury, Mars, and Uranus.  Mercury is about communication. You may feel the urge to speak up. You may feel very opinionated and a little overly analytical. Mars with other aspects of this moon can work with Aries energy to give us enthusiasm to overcome any feelings of restrain and inhibition. Finally, Uranus loves the unexpected. It can bring a little bit of a nervous energy and impulsiveness, combined with the assertive Aries. This can create a feeling of being unsettled and restlessness ,pushing into acting-maybe a little bit too quickly.

The negative aspects of this energy can be overwhelming, making it difficult to harness the fiery energy of Aries. As sore spots and uncomfortable situations bubble up, think about the direct action that can be taken to resolve these issues. Try not to let the troubling emotions overcome you. In the alternative, think about what these emotions are bringing to light. Pain is a teacher.  Let go of the situations in your life that you cannot control. Try to see where you need to slow down. Sometimes all you can do is plant the seed and wait for it to grow. A watched pot will never boil.

Today might have seemed like any other Tuesday. The day after Monday where the 9-5ers and Monday through Fridayers anticipate what seems like the forever illusive weekend. This Tuesday is unlike the others, however. Today’s date, 9/18/18, broken down in numerology is 999.

Nine symbolically represents completion; the end of a cycle. Now, I might have lost you with mention of numerology, but stay with me for a second.

Going through the walk of life, relationships and situations present opportunities for change. Change is a symbol of our pending death and mortality, hence why change is often uncomfortable. When something changes, it reminds us of the fact this life is fleeting. In order to avoid the prospect of death and our own innate desire to survive; we often avoid change.

We keep that partner around that doesnt respect us or cling to that job we hate. We buy another pack of cigarettes. We don’t make time for that hobby we like. We don’t do the things that require us to change.

Sometimes we get hunches and insights of what needs to go and can no longer stay, but we fight it. We cling to it-all in the name of staying the same.

Sometimes change comes not of our own choice. It happens to us. Loved ones pass away unexpectedly. Friends walk away without a word to say. Situations fade or exit not of our own accord.

What is in your life that needs changing? What are you clinging to that no longer serves you? What relay is waiting for you to step up to the starting line?

Today marks a day to walk away gracefully. Today marks a day to allow what is not meant for you to slip away. Better to be the master of your own destiny than have the choice be made for you.

Many people in my awareness are losing loved ones. Partnerships are broken. Projects are ending. Jobs are fleeting. Many stories are coming to me filled with pain and regret of the thing they haven’t done or could have said. Why did it have to end this way?

Death is painful. Endings suck, however, things fall apart so great things can come together. Death happens so we can be reborn.

Feel the feelings. Acknowledge the loss for bright new beginnings are around the corner.
