On July 31, 2019 (or August 1, 2019 depending on location) we will enter a new moon phase in the zodiac sign of Leo. All new moons are about planting seeds and new beginnings.  This moon is all about personal power and beginnings where that power is actualized. The Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mars will all be in Leo during this moon, opening the door for fresh perspective, new action, and even new love. This is a bright and positive moon full of new possibilities. This new moon is a much needed breath of fresh air after the cosmic turbulence of multiple planetary retrogrades in July and the 2019 eclipse season.

Mercury went retrograde back on July 7th and will be stationing direct in the zodiac sign of Cancer on July 31st. Mercury retrograde is a well known cosmic event that can disrupt communications, plans, technology, and travel. The advice of a Mercury Retrograde season is about slowing down and reviewing and where we need re-direction. Mercury going direct coinciding this moon is a call to action. It is time to pick up where you left off at the end of June. What new action is needed on your goals after the mercury pause?

We are coming out the 2019 Eclipse season of July.  Eclipses are strong cosmic events that often remove people and things from our lives. This past eclipse season may have cleared a path and aided Pluto’s retrograde in decluttering your life.  This new moon gives us a clean slate to start anew.

The Sun rules Leo who represents “me” or “I” in the zodiac. It is an energy of our personal power and solar plexus chakra often represented by the king of the jungle- the lion. It is an energy about where we stand strong and where we can stand stronger. This is a very masculine go-getter energy.  Leo energy loves being noticed and taking the spotlight.  Leo energy is about standing tall, being true to yourself and values. Leo energy loves to bring people together and is often generous and loving. The Strength card in the tarot is the major arcana card representation of Leo. It is an energy about taming the beast within and overcoming tough emotions and doubt to achieve our goals. Leo, unevolved, can be very proud and attention seeking. He can also be overbearing and controlling. Be careful of pomp and circumstance just to protect your ego.

Venus moved into Leo in the latter part of July, the ruler of love, money, and aesthetic. This new moon may bring in new love or ignite passion in a long standing connection. You may feel a jolt of confidence and put yourself out there in a way you never have before. You may feel a bit extra. This is an aspect that pushes us to be bold in love-to take center stage. You may also be tempted to overindulge in the finer things and be more generous to your fellow man. Venus is also about higher learning and devotion. Your gestures of devotion may also be on the side of the dramatic.

Mars is the planet of action, war, and aggression. After the stalemate of Mercury Retrograding, this energy is a necessary propulsion to do what needs to be done to reach our goals.  Mars can be a harried and pushy energy. It can be a bit rash and impulsive. Mars can make people speak harshly and act in a way that is not well thought through.  Being in Leo, Mars may motivate you to rush towards a new opportunity that symbolizes your personal power. It may also push you to leap before you think.  However, Venus is a feminine energy that will help soften the Mars aspect to this moon, so you can take needed action that isn’t just out of impulse.

Uranus is in Taurus and will have a heavy aspect to this moon. Uranus shakes things up and disrupts established order. An event or situation may bubble up that challenges the status quo. This may seem unsettling or hard to digest, but Uranus is clearing away something stealing your personal power. With Uranus being in Taurus, who rules the second house of finances, the shakeup may have to do with spending or something consuming your coins that is hindering your personal power. Uranus energy can seem disruptive, but this planet is clearing a path for your highest good. Allow whatever it knocks down to pass out of your life. This is a necessary obstacle for you to work through.

Neptune and Chiron will also have aspects to this moon. Neptune energy is about dreams and spirituality. Neptune energy can be positive in that it lets us dream big, but he can also create confusion and cloud our judgement on what is realistic. Allow yourself to dream big, but don’t get too lost in fantasy or make a commitment that isn’t maintainable. With Chiron being in the mix, currently in Aries, areas of healing will come up for review. Chiron will aid in healing areas affecting personal power. What past pain or events are causing you self doubt? It’s time to see it as part of your story that has made you all the wiser. No more excuses.

Keep in mind the negative aspects of the planetary energy at work here. Get all the facts before making a big move. Don’t cling to something needing to make an exit. Stay in the present. The past cannot be undone.

Last year, you had to do less. You had to release people from your life who weren’t serving your purpose. You had to do that even though it broke your heart. Even though you felt that pain so deeply in your heart space. It was preparing you for now.

You had to clear that all out so that you could see just how much these people and things wouldn’t fit in your life now.

Your soul wanted more.
Your soul wanted bigger and greater.
Your soul knew you couldn’t hold onto people, places, jobs, etc.

Your soul needed that space to be empty for a moment so that you could be open for this new energy.

So that you could finally feel free.

Perhaps you are still releasing.

This past Saturday we attended a New Moon Circle celebrating the New Moon in Capricorn and partial Solar Eclipse. The event was hosted by Amanda Jay of Sacred Moon Spoon and Jodi Doidge. Amanda is a Tarot Reader, Astrologer, Reiki Master, and Reflexologist-using these methodologies to assist in healing and wellness.  Jodi is a singer/songwriter and lightworker. The event took place at Maeva Movement in East Nashville.

It was a beautiful evening of fellowship and spiritual connectedness. The circle opened with the above channeled message.  It was a wonderful way to set the intention for our time together. After the reading of the message, everyone took turns around the room introducing themselves and sharing their stories of how they came to be at the New Moon Circle.  We then listened to a talk about the significance of the moon phases and the moon’s significance for women and feminine essence and being. The hosts gave us time to write our intentions for this moon phase- what we wanted for this month, this year and what we want to welcome into our lives. The circle was closed with a salt fire practice where salt is set on fire. This practice cleanses the energy space and releases our intentions to the divine.

The energy of the meeting was welcoming and safe. It was heart warming to encounter so much openness and vulnerability among a group of mostly strangers. Many told stories of addiction, of abuse, and struggles of pain.  Others discussed a troubling 2018 and hoping for a new beginning of 2019. Many simply want to deepen their spiritual practice. We made new friends and connections. There was a definite sense of community. We definitely plan on attending further Moon Circles.

A Full Moon Circle is scheduled for January 20, 2019 from 7-9PM at Maeva Movement in East Nashville. This is a great event if you would like to expand your existing moon phase practice, want to learn more, find community to celebrate these phases, or to simply connect with likeminded souls.

A sudden ending, shift in perspective or event comes without warning. Eclipse energy can bring very sudden change. However, you see the bigger picture. This is something that was necessary. Today we enter a New Moon phase in the zodiac sign of Capricorn.   This phase is especially significant in that it proceeds a partial solar eclipse on January 6th.

Remember the powerful moons and eclipses of summer 2018? The energy of this moon will hold the same level of intensity. There will be other aspects to this moon that will affect this energy as well. This moon is expected to pack a punch.

The zodiac sign of Capricorn is practical and grounded. She has little need for the frivolous. She is a hard worker who is ambitious and likes order. Capricorn is a loyal friend and partner. She is funny and practical with a love for art and music, but can be a little bit of a know-it-all and set in their ways. She is ruled by Saturn, which tends to make them very focused and attracted to order.

New Moons are a time to plant seeds and begin something new. With the Capricorn energy’s influence, you may have the grounded hard working energy needed to get something off the ground.  Be careful to not get too bogged down in perfection or knowing everything that could possibly happen.

Eclipses are know for taking things out of our lives and bringing newness and opportunities in. It is the most powerful aspect in astrology- where the Sun conjuncts the Moon. The possibilities are endless. Nothing is off limits. Your negative habits that need to go could bubble up to the forefront.  People could pass on suddenly.  A relationship may reach its expiration. New opportunities could arrive. This is a good time to start a business, project or relationship.

Another aspect to this moon is to the fixed star Vega. It is the brightest star in the northern sky.  Vega is often associated with ego and can make people more kind and peaceful. Vegas loves the arts as well. Vega also can cause people to be overtly sexual or pretentious. Its conjunction with the sun and moon can also bring about a disingenuous energy, hence its association with ego.

Saturn, who rules Capricorn, will have a strong influence bringing about a serious and critical overtone. Saturn is about discipline and responsibilities. This influence can definitely help with any new endeavors to give you the discipline needed to buckle down. Remember to not take anything too seriously, however.

Neptune will also be around this moon. He will enhance spiritual focus, heighten intuition, and with the aspect to Vega, will help the artists and creatives in the room enhance and focus on their craft. Maybe you can make a little money doing that creative hobby? Pay attention to your dreams and prepare for heightened psychic abilities.

Like any New Moon, it is a time to focus on the month ahead, plant seeds for what we hope to grow, and set goals for the future. With the various energies around this moon, take time to consider seeds you want to plant for 2019.  The crop from these seeds will be plentiful.

Today we enter a new moon phase in the fiery and spontaneous sign of Sagittarius.  The symbol for Sagittarius is the archer- optimistic, focused, skilled, and precise. The archer cannot hesitate, but move with quickness to strike.  The energy surrounding this new moon will propel you forward. There is no time to slow down.  Its time to take a gallant leap into the next phase with a positive and open mind. The shadow side of Sagittarius is a quick tempered and fiery personality.  Sagittarius is known for acting first then thinking later. Keep this in mind in your decisions and actions. Make sure to not act out of impulse.

This new moon will have other aspects to Jupiter that will play on the carefree and playfulness of Sagittarius.  Jupiter is the planet of good luck and wants us to grow into abundance. Neptune is a planet of spirituality, illusion, and enlightenment.  Neptune pushes us to look within.  Forgotten passions and areas that have been unclear will be pushing you to reach for something new. With this new moon phase put ideas and dreams into action. It is time to start being true to yourself and living with purpose. It is time to expose your inner desires and aspirations. We will enter a new moon phase in the zodiac sign of Scorpio on November 7, 2018.  The new moon marks the end of one moon cycle and the start of a new moon cycle.  The energy created when the dark side of the moon is visible creates a burst of energy and spark. New and fresh ideas come to the forefront.  It is a time to plant seeds and embark on new beginnings. With the new moon being in Scorpio and other aspects, this will be one of the most intense new moons of the year.

Scorpio is a water sign with emotions that run deep. Scorpio is mysterious, intuitive and seeks deeper understanding. This energy will wake you up, poking and prodding at your soft and tender spots. What is really the deeper meaning behind your actions? What is really going on in your awareness and reality?

The moon will have an interesting aspect to star Zubenelgenubi which is a fixed star in the Libra constellation. It is named for an Arabic Prince that represents justice. This energy can bring about accusations, conflict, illness, and disappointments.  It can bring about situations where justice is needed and where karmic debts need to be paid.

Neptune also has an aspect to this moon. Neptune can bring about an energy of forgiveness and compassion. This energy will make us ponder ethos, faith and spirituality.

Other aspects to this moon are with Pluto and Venus trine to Mars. Pluto will play on the Neptune energy deepening compassion and contemplation of spirituality. Pluto’s influence can expose truth and where you need forgiveness. The Venus trine to Mars increases a desire for companionship, socializing, and sexual desire. It will create feelings of closeness not limited to romantic relationships.

In summation, this is a deep and spiritual moon. With the aspect to star Zubenelgenubi bringing in possible conflict or disappointments, Neptune and Pluto can bring in a softness to this energy to help ease these woes; providing forgiveness. The Venus to Mars trine can bring us closer to people in our lives through resolving conflict. The moon can highlight what your individual role is in the grander scheme of the universe. Of course there is a darker side to these energies. Feelings of insecurity, self doubt and uncomfortable self awareness will be present. It is up to you whether to harness the positive aspects of the energy or let it bog you down.
